And she still doesn´t like this joke... But she knows that you have what it takes to be a good rower to conquer this stream of life. As you once conquered her...

Good trip, good action successfully accomplished. Congaratulations! I know the danubio only in the Ulm parts from some running with Claudia, th skiff woman. Actually I am in hospital and are fighting my own way down on this river called the life stream. I will finish with a joke which Claudia did not like that much: What is the ifference between making love in a rowing boat and amrerican beer? There is no difference, both is fucking close to water! Cheers, Thomas

So sorry about the misshapps with the romanian border police....hopefully the last. You guys have done a terrific job for our otters and beaver :) poor them ...u gave them quite a fright. Just remember...pelicans are Roxana's favourite birds, not souveniers. Kidding! Looking forward to visit your webpage next year .... What's next? The Nile? Cheers!!!

Congrats fellas. It must feel that "all your hard work ain't bin in vain for nothing" Singing in the Rain quote, just in case you're wondering. Hope you get to do some final exploring before heading back to sunny England (or Scotland). You are planning to do something a bit more taxing next year? None of this relaxing on a boat stuff. Well done lads

Lucky you! I didn't envy you up till now, because I couldn't have rowed the Danube, but I definitely envy you today, when you entered the delta. Please, make as many photos as possible and share them with us. Your ideas about an annual event inspired me to think of trying to organize next summer national rowing from Apatin to the Iron Gate in support of the DCP of the WWF. I wish you all the best in the next important days for you and your action!

Bloody marvellous! I can't belive that you have actually reached the Delta - and it's great that you have some time to explore it. It is truly one of Europe's magical places. Have a great time with the remainder of your journey and don't let Luminita lead you astray in Tulcea!

Possibly our farewell message. You have entertained us greatly and we'll miss the daily search. A great achievement which we hope will be rewarded. Other readers recommended now to read 'A Time of Gifts' by Patrick Leigh Fermor who walked from Holland to Constantinople in 1938. After which we hope you'll write your story. In 3 days time (?) "Give her ten" then you can "Easy oar" at last.

Isn't there a speed limit on the Danube? ;) Guys, there is a lot to be explored in the Delta so take your time ;) and make sure you don't get to Sulina before we do. :) xxx

No matter what strange or funny things and situations you meet on your trip (I read your diary), take the best part of all: you will have a lot of memories and stories to tell to the others. More than most of us have. Have a safe and successful trip. Best regards.....

You will certainly be praised for rowing the Danube, but the others won’t realise that you had to overcome also the cold and wet, which lasted for several days. And our famous wind, called “koshava”, blowing just up the river! Btw, I noticed that I omitted your nicest photo from the departure from Belgrade (2 September), so I added it to the pictures in the album “Danube” of the group of my friends, who rescue stray dogs and take care about the environment: since I can’t up-load it to your site. Have a nice journey and glorious arrival home!

Very good to hear more news. The end must be nearly in sight but i am sure that the last few miles will be the toughest of all. Keep going! We are thinking of you every step of the way. Everyone has gone back to school now. I have been to see Arthur play football on Saturday. Susannah has been singing in the choir and Cecelia is thinking of starting Duke of Edinburgh Award very soon. Richard has been out picking blackberries with Claire and Susannah. Very hot here this weekend. Keep going and we really look forward to seeing you when you get back. With love from us all.

Do let the reception committee get in place before you arrive at the finishing post. I calculate your average to date has been 46km per day including rests. A wealthy peer of the realm has just sent in 10 quid ! I wish I was coming out but am far too lame.

Keep the spirits up and the spirit down. If the distance seems a long way, just think that it's only like rowing from Newcastle to London or perhaps a little further. Piece of cake. All the best. Dave

Good to hear that everything's ok and u're doing progress in spite of this terrible weather. U could just as well row the boat in Bucharest since it has become a little Venice in the past couple of days. BTW, John, now there is a problem with your email address, just won't accept my emails. Anyway, don't know yet if I can make it to Tulcea on the 25th though I'd love to, guess I'll just come straight to Sulina on the 26th. Not sure yet though but I'll let u know. OK, keep up the good work and if any problem should occure, I'm just abt 2 hrs away from you, always willing to help. Good luck! XXX
